NOMADS Spend Three Weeks Volunteering at Lakeside

nomads2020

A HUGE thanks in praise to our NOMADS team, who just finished three weeks of mission work at Lakeside. Dave & Sally Dyke, Sherry DeHaan, Jeff & Teresa Fulton, and Dave & Carol Hill were incredible volunteers and we are blessed by the work they did.

Between Sept. 28  and Oct. 15, they finished more than twenty projects of varying sizes (many with sub-projects, too). It's very true that many hands working together are better than one!

Thank you again for spending three weeks with us, NOMADS! It was a blessing to have you all on site with us, and to observe the care you put into your work.

Here's a list of projects/sub-projects that were completed:

  • Six shoe cabinets built and painted for the cabins, so that campers have a place to put muddy shoes in.

  • Camp Lakeside sign at the entrance was repainted.

  • Doors painted on all cabins.

  • All cabins were cleaned (windows washed, mattresses wiped down).

  • Screening replaced and outside windows cleaned in Tabor and Zion.

  • East Canyon bathhouse cleaned and hosed down.

  • Boy & Girl signs on bathhouse repainted.

  • Cabin signs repainted.

  • Carpets were cleaned in the Lodge.

  • Smoke alarm batteries in cabins and Lodge were replaced.

  • Stained ceiling tiles replaced.

  • Blue walls were painted in the Camp Store/Craft Cabin; door also striped, kilzed and repainted.

  • Bench in the Ark was repaired and repainted.

  • Walls painted in L Cabin.

  • Old desk repaired and painted, to be put in Baker as a microwave/coffee bar for retreat groups.

  • Wooden swing near chapel was repaired and repainted.

  • Many outdoor benches were repaired and repainted.

  • Trees/bushes were trimmed.

  • Many buildings were deep cleaned.

  • Cobwebs cleaned off front doors to Chapel.

  • Plywood panel installed in maintenance shed window.

WHAT ARE NOMADS?

“Nomads On a Mission Active in Divine Service – NOMADS provide volunteer labor for United Methodist organizations. NOMADS demonstrate God’s love through our work and by listening to the people with whom we work. We do new construction, remodeling, and repairs for churches, children’s homes, camps, colleges, outreach missions and disaster rebuilding. Team members do maintenance, cleaning, painting, electrical, drywall, sewing, flooring. With God’s help, NOMADS pretty much do it all.”
